About the Author:

"I live in Macclesfield, in the heart of Cheshire, England, with Mary, my best pal and wife of over 30 years. We have several furry lodgers who have convinced themselves that they’re vitally important to our well-being (I think they’re quite correct).

"In the late 1980’s I had to retire from my career due to ill health (spinal diseases) and now I’m virtually housebound. Since retiring, my remaining sanity has been retained by artistic hobbies of all sorts – painting, sketching and photography. My subjects tend to be natural studies – flowers, insects, birds and fungi. These subjects have found their way into my polyclay work.

"I first tried Polymer clay in late 2000, completely by accident – I saw something called ‘Sculpey’ advertised at a website I was visiting and decided to find out what it was like.(Talk about life-changing decisions!)

"My Polymer clay work varies between canework and sculpture (either ornaments or jewellery) – I particularly enjoy finding ways to incorporate canes into natural subjects such as dragonflies (caned wings and bodies), tortoises, orchids, fish – all sorts of things, with varying degrees of resultant realism! I also enjoy making jewellery that combines Polyclay and other mediums. My most recent medium mixtures involve titanium metal electro/heat oxidisation colour effects and silver with Polyclay."
